Every one of us has their own favourites when it comes to comfort food. Well I’m going to show you one of my favourite comfort food option.
It’s called ‘Funghi e broccoli nella nostra salsa di pomodoro’ – which literally means mushrooms and broccoli in Our Tomato Sauce. And that’s exactly what it is – a very simple and very easy to make dish packed with deliciousness!
Funghi e broccoli nella nostra salsa di pomodoro

INGREDIENTS
- Ovenproof dish 20 cm x 15 cm
- 60 g broccoli (2 medium sized florets)
- 60 g button mushrooms
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 small cloves of garlic, crushed
- 200 ml of Our Tomato Sauce
- 1 Mozzarella ball, torn into small chunks
- Sea salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- Toasted sourdough bread to serve
INSTRUCTIONS
- Blanch broccoli for a couple of minutes until al dente, then take out and cut into quarters.
- In the meantime slice mushrooms and cook with olive oil for a few minutes on a medium heat until soft.
- Pour Our Tomato Sauce into the ovenproof dish, scatter the garlic, broccoli and mushrooms over it, then top with Mozzarella pieces and season with a bit of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
- Pop it into pre-heated oven, 180 degrees Celsius, for 15 to 20 minutes (it’s ready when the sauce starts bubbling and Mozzarella is melted)
- Serve with toasted sourdough bread.
NOTES

- This dish can be enjoyed in many different ways – a quick lunch option, starter or even as a sharing side dish to your meal.
- Rather than Sourdough bread, you can serve it with any other type of bread, just go for your favourite one!
