Photos of Easy Orange Cake by Mario
In our recipe for Easy Orange Cake we’re using sweet Spanish oranges.
We opted for oranges from sunny Valencia, Spain, because they are sweet and have an excellent taste and color. Be careful though, not all of the oranges grown in Spain are sweet, for example oranges from Seville are a bit bitter.
You will find that the ingredients, quantities and the process of making create an incredibly moist and delicious orange cake! We can guarantee that you won’t be able to stop yourself after you first bite!
You can serve the cake hot or cold, with chocolate sauce, custard or simply on it’s own with your cup of tea or coffee – the possibilities are endless, but it will definitely be delicious! Enjoy 🙂
Easy Orange Cake
Prep Time: 15 Min
Cook Time: 1 Hr
Total Time: 1 Hr 15 Min
Serves: 8
Ingredients
250 g unsalted butter
200 g icing sugar
4 whole eggs
Juice of 1 Orange
Zest of 2 Oranges
250 g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
Round cake tin with removable sides, 8″/20 cm in diameter
Instructions
- Cut butter into to cubes and beat together with icing sugar until creamy. Add juice and zest of the oranges.
- Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, then add slowly into the buttercream (not all at once, otherwise it won’t combine very well).
- Mix flour and baking powder in a separate bowl, then add slowly into the mix (just like with the eggs).
- Grease the cake tin with a small knob of butter, then dust it with a little flour.
- Transfer the cake mixture in to the tin, then cook for 60 minutes in a pre-heated oven, 160 degrees Celsius.
- Take the cake out of the oven, place on the cooling rack and let it cool for about 30 minutes before taking the sides and the bottom of the tin off.
Notes
Check the cake after about 40 minutes. If the top of the cake starts getting too much color, just cover it with aluminium foil and keep it on till the cake is cooked.
